The series would comprise of three movies namly An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and There and Back Again (2014). The movie series would be  prequel trilogy to the The The Lord of the Rings series. The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey scheduled in December 2012.
